KEY LARGO – 2-27-2021

Cruisin‘ to Key Largo
Saturday, February 27, 2021

Due to COVID, it had been a year since our last club driving adventure, so an invitation from the local Alfa club to join them for their ‘Krazy Kruze’ to Key Largo was just what we needed to get back into the swing of things. After all, weather like we’re having now (February) is why we live in South Florida; Perfect for a drive to the upper Keys, especially when lunch by the water’s edge is in the offing.

Unfortunately, as the date drew near, poor weather was forecast and the drive was postponed. Upon learning that the next scheduled date conflicted with a last minute ‘Alfisti’ event, we elected not to put it off any longer.

Even though we didn’t have as large a turnout as usual for an event of this type, we still had a great time. It was great to see the faces of those we hadn’t seen in ages, as well as few new ones. Joe, Allan, Eddy & Ivette and Rick departed from South Miami shortly after 9:00 for the drive via some of the lesser traveled and back roads of Miami and Homestead to meet up with Luis, George & Sabrina, Rene & Jean, and Emilio in Florida City at 10:00. From there we hopped onto Card Sound Road passing Alabama Jacks on our way to Key Largo. Several of us, not yet being comfortable with restaurants, elected to skip lunch and return home via US1/Turnpike while the others continued on for an oceanfront lunch at Snappers.
