Homestead Track – 10/17/2021

HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY LAPS
Sunday, October 17, 2021

What a great morning at the track! Homestead-Miami Speedway’s ‘Give Back at the Track’ charity fundraising event once again gave us an opportunity to do some supervised track time on their 1.5 mile progressively banked oval. Although we were only able to bring out a couple classic British cars we also had a couple more modern ones. Also joining us was a classic BMW 2002 and a new Fiat 124.

We were the first club group to hit the track for our 15 minute slot and wow, today’s pace car driver had no fear of driving fast. Ed’s Healey & my Triumph were left in the dust driving as fast as we dared at 80-85+. Bernie, Larry and Alberto were able to reach into the triple digits in their more modern cars while Jose fell somewhere in between in his BMW 2002.

On completion of our laps, we were given the opportunity for photos taken with each of our cars in the Winner’s Circle. We then journeyed home via the back roads behind the track and Homestead Air Force Station, along the canals, past Mount Trashmore and finally through Black Point Marina on our way to Old Cutler road.
